Do you remember Snoop Dogg and Pharrell’s music video “Beautiful“? If you do, do you remember that insanely cool building with a “pool” where they were having a party? Well, that’s the Visual Art School inside the Parque Lage. And it is one of my favorite places here in Rio de Janeiro yet. The school has a cozy café where you can stay for hours just soaking up the surroundings, which are actually much more mysterious and captivating when it’s cloudy. Every once in a while even the Christ statue popped up from behind the clouds. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any more magical, suddenly they started to serve free champagne, beer and even food. We joked on for probably about an hour that we had to be in paradise. We didn’t get to see the surrounding park because the sun started to go down, and a guard stopped us and told us frantically that the cobras come out when it’s dark. We had no idea if he was joking or not, but we didn’t really stick around to figure it out. Just in case.
PS: In a crazy expensive Rio, you’ll be pleased to know that the entrance here is free, and according to our personal guide (Isa), it’s even prettier here than in the Botanical Garden next to it where you have to pay to enter.
